The machine consists of one or more 100 % submerged filtering discs, fixed on a robust central drum. The waste water flows from the outside of the tank through the inside of each media panel and than into the hollow central shaft to be discharged as filtered and clean water. Cleaning process involves suction instead of backwashing, so the impurities are caught from the outside by means of suction pumps and, together with the eventually settled particles are sent to further treatment.
The basic filter element is a filter segment covered with filter cloth called "pile".
