Belt Press
High-capacity mechanical dewatering for large volumes of sludge.
Applications
Used in medium to large municipal and industrial plants for continuous sludge dewatering; adaptable for various sludge types and dry solids targets.
The belt press is a high-capacity, double belt dewatering machine designed to dewater a wide range and large volumes of sludges, by means of progressive compression between two permeable belts. The sludge is initially conditioned in a mixer tank and than fed to the press gravity zone where it drains the greater part of free water by gravity. The first part of the following "low pressure" zone is where the upper and the lower belt converge producing a gradual increase of the specific pressure on the sludge. Then the two belts containing the sludge wrap around a large diameter perforated roll which exerts a moderate and uniform pressure, separating further free water from the sludge.
The last high pressure compression zone consists in rolls around which the two belts containing the sludge form a "S" configuration. these pressure rolls feature a progressively decreasing diameter along the working direction of the machine. In this way the pressure exerted on the sludge gradually increases to produce a high solid content in the final cake.
The cake leaving the high pressure zone is removed from the belts by doctor blades while the cleaning of the belts is performed by two washing stations, one for each belt, each containing a pipe with jet nozzles, where high pressure water is sprayed onto the filter surface. Two pneumatic systems provide the tensioning and the automatic centering of the belts.
